In college I found a passion for videography, editing and graphic design. I designed websites since high school and when I graduated college I was able to take my graphic design skills, my web design skills and utilize those in the local news field. Videography was on hold for those years. Fast forward 5 years and I found myself leaving the news industry to get into the coal business. I found a company that was looking for someone with media skills and web design skills and I fit the bill. Little did I know that leaving the media would get me more involved with media than I ever imagined.
Opportunities came where I found myself snapping photos and shooting video out of a helicopter, traveling several states and going underground in several different mines to produce media elements used to promote our business, educate others about our business, and provide content for safety. My duties expanded when we were tasked with building out a full broadcast studio. Given 5 weeks, we converted cube space into a full broadcast studio capable of going live within minutes with any major news affiliate. Primarily I operate cameras for the productions and prepare the interviewee for broadcast.
I’ve always tried to make myself available for freelance projects when presented with them but in 2016 I decided to really start advertising my services. That’s when I came up with Essington Creative. I found a real enjoyment in capturing and building wedding videos. Wedding videography has now become my primary focus with Essington Creative with still offering other creative services.
